Electrical Engineer

Position Description / Responsibilities

Support product development and deployment of integrated solar panels and solar chargers. Electrical circuit design and debug, product circuit design, PCBA design support, component selection, component and assembly FA. Analyze data and assess outcomes of controlled experiments. Automated data collection using standard communication protocols, scripting and programming using high-level languages, microcontroller programming, fixture and GUI development for test equipment. Define end-user system requirements. Define system hardware and firmware architecture, component requirements, testing and debug, and reliability testing to support energy management and production. Provide technical support through the entire life cycle from development to manufacturing and into the field, with focus on product design and development. Interfacing with other engineering functions including design, manufacturing, performance testing. Some work will occasionally be conducted outdoors. Ability to lift 35 lb. required. Some occasional travel, international and domestic, required.

Critical Skills

Working knowledge of state-of-the-art microcontroller systems, both hardware and firmware. Design, debug, test and support low-level and high-level firmware for controlling power conversion, user safety and communication within smart solar modules, between smart solar modules and to other systems. Basic circuit design and debug, including detailed knowledge of power devices and switch mode power supplies. PCBA design/layout and schematic documentation tools. Basics of device-to-device communication protocols and communication bandwidth requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to contribute in a team environment. Excellent communication skills including the ability to interface effectively with vendors, customers and executives. Ability to work with vendors on specifications, requirements, reliability and cost drivers. Define and control a bill of materials. Control firmware development in standard revision control tool sets.

Education / Experience Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with five to ten years experience in designing and deploying embedded systems.

Summer Intern, Graphic and Web Designer

Position Description / Responsibilities

Applicants will work closely with the tenKsolar team to implement marketing initiatives. Qualified applicants will be communicating with salespeople, marketing, engineers, and manufacturers to produce print and web content. The materials you will be responsible for include web pages, tradeshow banners, brochures, marketing photos, and technical diagrams. A willingness to learn new techniques, attention to detail, and ability to consistently meet deadlines are key to this position. This is a paid internship with a growing company and is excellent for anyone looking to expand their portfolio.

Education / Experience Requirements

Demonstrates a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 5, especially InDesign and Photoshop.
Has a strong understanding of web design fundamentals (HTML, CSS).
Practices good computer file organizational habits.
